# Shopify journey assertions

Use with [Monitor Shopify storefront and checkout journeys](/blog/monitor-shopify-storefront-checkout-aws-cloudwatch-synthetics/). Checked 19 October 2026.

| Step | Assert | Must not |
| --- | --- | --- |
| home | Document title or main landmark is visible | Follow a password-page redirect into a login loop without failing the step |
| product | Dedicated test product URL returns the product title | Open a product that can be purchased with a saved card |
| add-to-cart | Cart count increases, or the cart drawer shows the test SKU | Change inventory on a live SKU you sell today |
| checkout-visible | Checkout shows the test line and a payment step is on screen | Click Pay, Place order, or the wallet button |

Store the storefront password, if the shop uses one, in Secrets Manager. The canary reads it at run time.

## Stop

- A second canary that submits a Bogus Gateway order "just to be sure".
