x86 vs Graviton
Fargate Cost Tips
- Graviton tasks: ARM Fargate is typically ~20% cheaper for the same CPU/memory envelope.
- Task bin-packing: Fewer larger tasks can reduce control-plane chatter but watch blast radius.
- Compute SP: Commit after 4–6 weeks of stable Fargate usage — not before right-sizing.
- Lambda boundary: Short sporadic work may be cheaper on Lambda — use our comparison tool linked in step 1.

FactualMinds tunes Fargate the way we do in engagements — moving tasks to Graviton, shifting fault-tolerant workloads to Fargate Spot, and right-sizing task CPU/memory under a Compute Savings Plan. Typical AWS cost reviews cut spend 20–40%.

Why We Built This Tool
Fargate bills per vCPU-second and GB-second — small task sizing mistakes compound across replicas and business hours. We mirror the us-east-1 Fargate rate card from production cost reviews.
What Problem It Solves
- Architecture compare. x86 vs Graviton in one pass.
- Replica math. Multiply tasks × hours for realistic fleet cost.
- Capacity modeling. On-Demand, Fargate Spot (~70% off), or Compute SP (~17% off).
- FinOps handoff. Lead gate captures task shape for follow-up.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do these prices come from?
AWS Fargate us-east-1 Linux rates as of July 2026: x86 $0.04048/vCPU-hr and $0.004445/GB-hr; ARM $0.03238/vCPU-hr and $0.00356/GB-hr. Windows and ephemeral storage are excluded.
Does this include ECS/EKS control plane?
No — this covers Fargate compute only. EKS cluster hourly fees, Application Load Balancers, and NAT/data transfer are billed separately.
What about Fargate Spot?
Select Fargate Spot in step 2 for an approximate 70% discount vs On-Demand. Spot prices fluctuate and tasks can be interrupted — use only for fault-tolerant workloads.
How does Compute Savings Plan discount work?
We apply a directional 17% reduction to vCPU and memory when checked — actual SP rates depend on term, payment option, and utilization.
Minimum task size?
Fargate enforces minimum 0.25 vCPU and platform-specific memory ratios. This UI uses practical minimums for web/API workloads.
How accurate is this estimate?
Matches published per-hour rates × your inputs within rounding. Confirm in AWS Pricing Calculator for Windows, ARM64 exceptions, and ephemeral storage GB.
